Careers Trucking is a showcase happening on Friday 25th November 2022, to give people a behind the scenes look at the industry and the career opportunities available. This showcase is open to all those interested in the industry and adults looking for a career change. Transport plays an essential role to keep the country moving and it's not just about truck driving. Come and explore what the industry does, how it keeps the New Zealand economy running and the exciting career opportunities available - you may even walk away with some contacts that could set up your future.



The transport industry plays a crucial role in keeping New Zealand’s economy going. Without it, the country would come to a complete stop. The career opportunities within transport are extensive and many of them are often overlooked. The industry is screaming out for the next generation and new talent to jump on board and find their place in the world of transport. There are some fantastic opportunities out there, come and see for yourself!


The event is free and is perfect for students that are looking for direction and inspiration. It also suits individuals looking for a career or pathway change. Come along and find out how to start a career in transport; here are just some of the pathways available:

  • Transport Operator: Linehaul, tanker, courier, tipper, logging, concrete, livestock

  • Engineering: Automotive, electrical and diesel mechanic

  • Workshop: Tyre technician, parts, mechanics

  • Technology: Telematics, cameras, design & development, diagnostics, health & safety, fleet management

  • Warehousing: Distribution manager, forklift operator

  • Office: Marketing, administration, management, health and safety, logistics, Council & trade associations

  • Retail: Fuel, tyres, truck parts & accessories truck sales

  • Crane and Hiab Operator


  • Friday 25th November 2022, 9am - 1pm

  • Canterbury Agricultural Park, Christchurch

  • Visitors will receive a bag containing a show map and lanyard

  • The show map will highlight which exhibiting companies are participating in the showcase and how to get to them. There will also be event crew around to help direct groups

  • Information will be emailed prior to the event so that you can plan you day and which companies you would like to visit

  • Free BBQ lunch will be provided at 12:30pm 

  • After 1pm you are free to continue exploring the show, but the official showcase will be finished after lunch. Throughout the day there will be a variety of working displays, truck rides and industry competitions to watch
