GET QUALIFIED WITH MITO

MITO's on-the-job Goods Service programmes are designed for people working in the road freight sector driving goods service vehicles. Core Skills provides entry-level knowledge whilst those requiring the skills to drive larger trucks (Class 4 or Class 5) will complete the Heavy Vehicle Driver qualification.
PROGRAMME OUTLINE
The National Certificate in Goods Service (Core Skills) (Level 2) covers how to:
- Load, unload, and drive a rigid goods service vehicle safely, efficiently, and lawfully
- Demonstrate customer service techniques required for working in the commercial road transport industry in various situations
You can choose to further your learning by completing the National Certificate in Goods Service (Heavy Vehicle Driver) (Level 3) which enables you to:
- Identify and respond to hazards
- Select and record routes
- Prepare a heavy motor vehicle for use
- Safely drive either a Heavy Rigid (Class 4) or Heavy Combination (Class 5) vehicle (dependent on the strand you select)
Learners can also complete optional strands, designed to recognise the specific skills required to transport bulk dangerous goods, livestock, and perishable products by road.
These programmes include theoretical and practical training and assessment to ensure drivers are knowledgeable, competent and safe drivers. This qualification also provides a pathway to higher level national certificates including the National Certificate in Business Skills (First Line Management) (Level 4) and the National Certificate in Road Transport Management (Operations) (Level 4).
PROGRAMME DURATION
National Certificate in Goods Service (Heavy Vehicle Driver) with strand in Heavy Rigid Vehicle (Level 3) or Heavy Combination Vehicle (Level 3) takes 10 months to complete.
